Become an Apprentice

Embarking on the path to becoming a RaidGuild apprentice is no ordinary journey—it’s a trial of skill, resilience, and the will to learn. Your apprenticeship is a critical first step to contributing to the Guild and ultimately, earning your place as a RaidGuild member. Here’s your guide to understanding the apprentice journey, so you’re well-prepared to make the most of your time.

What Awaits You on This Journey

Setting Your Purpose

The apprentice program is an opportunity to:

  1. Gain experience in a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).
  2. Work on real projects, known as Raids, and contribute meaningfully to the Guild.
  3. Build connections with other aspiring Guild members and mentors.
  4. Learn the skills needed to thrive in web3 development and DAO operations.
  5. Work toward full membership, where you can shape and benefit from the Guild directly.

To succeed in this environment, set a clear objective for yourself. Ask why you’re here, what you aim to learn, and how you can best contribute to the Guild’s success. Whether your goal is to assess if this path aligns with your skills, or to gain a strong foothold in the web3 space, defining your purpose will keep you focused amid the organized chaos of the DAO world.

Preparing for the Journey

  • Apply for Onboarding: Begin by applying to join an upcoming apprentice cohort on the Guild’s main website. Cohorts are scheduled sporadically, and the path to membership requires active participation in one.
  • Set Up in Discord: Select your roles in the Guild’s start-here channel, identify your skills in the skills channel, and introduce yourself to your fellow cohort members and mentors.
  • Familiarize Yourself with Guild Resources:

What to Expect on the Path

Apprenticeship is structured yet flexible, allowing each member to forge their own journey. The cohort experience isn’t always linear; the Guild encourages exploration, adaptation, and proactive involvement. By participating in Raids and tasks, you’ll have opportunities to demonstrate your skills and problem-solving abilities, and in turn, the Guild will observe your potential for membership.

During your cohort journey, you may end up:

  1. As a full-fledged Raid Guild member, ready to take on more responsibility.
  2. Contributing to Guild projects while deciding on full membership.
  3. Waiting for a future cohort if the timing or readiness isn’t right for you.
  4. Choosing a different path if Guild life isn’t what you seek.

Key Milestones

  1. Start Participating: Engage actively in cohort meetings, events, and any tasks available. Seek opportunities to contribute to ongoing projects and connect with other Guild members to learn about their work.
  2. Map Out the Chaos: Get comfortable with the flexible structure of the Guild. There are no strict instructions or predefined roles, so you’ll need to carve out your path by identifying where you can add value.
  3. Secure a Champion: As you progress, identify a Guild member who can vouch for your readiness and willingness to contribute. Champions are key to advancing from apprentice to full member.
  4. Become Part of the DAO: Once you’ve made it through, pledge your support to the Guild’s cohort DAO and start voting on proposals. Membership brings more responsibility, but also more influence within the Guild.

Equipping Yourself for Success

RaidGuild’s apprenticeship may feel like “drinking from a waterfall" as you get accustomed to the fast-paced, decentralized environment. To make the most of this journey:

  • Review resources like the Raid Guild Handbook and Code of Conduct.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Raid Guild Tool Shed for essential tools.
  • Connect with your cohort on Discord; the community is welcoming and ready to support you as you navigate this new world.
  • Be proactive in finding answers and understanding RaidGuild’s mission and values by checking out the Raid Guild Origin Stories and past client work in the Raid Guild Portfolio.

Sealing the Deal

Your cohort journey will culminate with a chance to pledge your allegiance to RaidGuild as a full member. If you’ve demonstrated skill, adaptability, and initiative, you’ll be ready to cast your first vote within the Guild and take on a more significant role.
